    Complete program for
    Light Up the Sky
    ,
written by Moss Hart, performed at the John B Kelly Playhouse in the Park for the Lincoln Festival. Program includes biographies of the stars of the play. Comedian and TV star
    MILTON BERLE
(1908-2002), possibly attended the play, as he is not listed in the credits. In addition to the TV work for which he is best known,
Berle also performed on Broadway six times and produced two Broadway plays:
    I'll Take the High Road
    (1943) and
    Seventeen
    (1951).
    In this production of
    Light Up the Sky
    ,
which was first directed by Hart at the Royale Theatre on Broadway from November 18, 1948-May 21, 1949,
KITTY CARLISLE, the wife of the playwright
, starred as Irene Livingston (the play is set in her living room at the Ritz-Carleton Hotel in Boston). Other members of the cast included
    VIVIAN BLAINE
    as Frances Black,
    HAYDEN RORKE
    as Owen Turner,
    RUTH McDEVITT

    SAM LEVENE
as Sidney Black (the role he had originated on Broadway),
    MICHAEL GOODWIN
    as Peter Sloan and
    HAROLD KENNEDY
    as Carleton Fitzgerald.
    CARLISLE
    (1910-2007), was
married to Moss Hart from 1946 until his death in 1961.
Although she appeared on Broadway from 1933 and was in a number of feature films and television shows, she is perhaps
best known as a panelist on the TV game show,
    To Tell The Truth
(she was the only panelist to appear in every version of the show from 1956-2002).
    BLAINE
(1921-1995), born Vivian Stapleton, appeared in
    five Broadway plays
    , including
    Guys and Dolls
    .
    HAYDEN
    RORKE
(1910-1987), who made 70 appearances on Broadway and had 50 feature films and nearly 400 TV shows to his credit, is
perhaps best known for his role as Dr. Bellows on
    I Dream of Jeannie
    (1965-1970). McDEVITT
(1895-1976) appeared in a number of Broadway productions, including
    Picnic
    (1953-1954). Director/performer
    LEVENE
(1905-1980), who first appeared on Broadway in 1927, was
nominated for a 1961 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play
    for
    The Devil's Advocate
    .
    GOODWIN
appeared in a number of Broadway plays as well as in feature films and on television.
    KENNEDY
(1914-1988), who appeared on Broadway and directed several plays, wrote
    No Pickle - No Performance
, a memoir of his life in the theater. Lightly creased. Cover slightly soiled. Overall, fine condition.
