Margaret Leighton was an English stage, film and television actress. She won two Tony Awards for
Best Actress (dramatic):
Separate Tables
(1956-1957) and
The Night of the Iguana
(1961-1962). In
films she is best remembered for her performance in
The Go-Between
(1971) for which she received
an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She also won an Emmy Award in 1971
for a television version of
Hamlet
. Leighton was married to actors Laurence Harvey (1957-1961)
and Michael Wilding (1964-her death 1976).
