Description
5.5" x 15" pulp snake type broadside for the annual tour of Vaudeville Comedian Phil Maher and his Troupe at the Loomis Opera House in Waverly, New York. The broadside bears two names written in pencil in the same hand, a Miss Hees and on the verso Mrs. L. S. Hees.We have looked for information on Maher and precious little is available except for brief mentions in 1910's theatrical magazines. The name on the broadside could be a member of his troupe, or someone who attended. The Loomis Opera House ran through the 1910's. There was a fire that nearly destroyed the theater for good in the 1890's, but it was apparently rebuilt. They would present everything from Vaudeville, to boxing matches, to wrestling matches to minstrel shows.
There are some creases and a repaired tear center. That said for a piece of real crap pulp paper, it's in pretty decent shape. Certainly not designed to last!
Due to size and our purchased shipping materials, it will be a little more to ship.
