    Description

You are admiring an outstanding Volute specimen, a Lyria tulearensis (Cosel & Blocher, 1977
) measuring 56.9mm and graded F++/Gem...very unique form, highly ribbed & featuring an incredible lip along with a breathtaking color pattern & markings displayed...a spectacular specimen.  This beauty was collected off Tulear, Madagascar & is considered endemic to this region.  A member of the Volutidae family & becoming quite difficult to acquire today which makes this one a wonderful addition for your collection.  Thank you for visiting our store this afternoon...& an excellent choice, too.
***Special Note:  I recently asked someone I consider an expert on this subject about the difference between the
Indolyria delessertiana & the Lyria tulearensis and their response was this:  "You can see a difference in the protoconch and above all in the thick margin, black stained outer lip.  However, the subspecies was created because the local population is restricted to the Tulear area (tulearensis) and the other (delessertiana) to the South of Madagascar.  The tulearensis is much rarer & today good quality specimens are becoming very hard to collect."
