    Description

Scaphella junonia (Lamarck,1804), Voluta collection, 96.2mm, Florida data, 46g. Condition is "Used".
Nice pattern, pictures were taken under natural light, no PS. I used a background of two colors (white and black) to show its colors.
    I personally think that the
    black background
can better express its true color, and the white background makes its pattern appear a little darker.
    S. Peter Dance published his book named "Rare Shells" (1969) in which he discussed 50 shells which rare, valuable and had interesting history. Scaphella junonia is one of them. It is worth mentioning that the Chinese name of Scaphella junonia is called Goddess Voluta, this name shows how precious it was back then.
This is a junonia from an old collection. It is a bit larger than a normal 90mm individuals. Unfortunately, it is not perfect. In addition to the common growth patterns and cracks, there is also a small hole on its body (
    Please check pics carefully
    ).
