    Description

Love letter written by Laurence Olivier, with the recipient unnamed. Olivier addresses the note to "darling", and goes on to write, in part, "I am so sad that this is to be the last, will never be able to tell you how happy we have been in this darling flat. So much glorious heavenly happiness will cling to its walls forever."
The note is on Hotel Algonquin stationery. Other (much less interesting) letters written by Olivier on identical stationery are dated from the late 1950s to the early 1960s. In that case, the recipient may be Joan Plowright. According to Olivier biographies, he and Plowright were having an affair at the time, when both were still married (Olivier to Vivien Leigh).
The letter is in excellent condition, 6 x 8, with one horizontal fold.
Needless to say, this is a truly special piece of Hollywood history!
