Laurents collaborated with Stephen Sondheim on the scripts for

.  He also wrote films such as

The Way We Were.
His directing credits included Broadway revivals of
West Side Story

Gypsy,
as well as
La Cage aux Folles.
First Edition. NY, Macmillan, 1974. 279 pp., illustrated.  Near fine book in a very good price-clipped dust jacket that has some moderate shelf wear and a one inch tear on the back.
Craig Zadan's book was the first book devoted to Sondheim's body of work.  Laurents' inscription refers to the fact that he is liberally quoted throughout the book.
