Vintage HTF Customized Corning Opal Pyrex Military Plate : AAFES Mess Ware
This HTF Corning Opal Pyrex mess plate (# 791- 39) was customized and manufactured in Corning's Charleroi, PA plant under military contract for the Army Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES) between 1936-1979. This three-compartment mess plate has the Grecian/Gray Floral Cut-Out pattern around the face circumference with the AAFES Logo at the top and has a few minor flea bites in the pattern edge (see photos).The plate has a 9 1/2 in. diameter, and has only been hand-washed. Plate face is gently used and does display a few minor utensil marks within the portion compartments. It is back-stamped with Little Joe Gaffer and has minor stacking marks on the back rim. No graphic scratches. No glassware chips. No glassware cracks.
Overall the plate condition is good and appropriate for age and usage.
